Some history of how it started---

A couple of years back, I've always type song sheet for my cell group, so I figure out might as well save the file I've type on my PC, so that if we sing the song again, we can just copy and paste. After a while, I've decided to just add in the chords, so it will be easy for me as a cell group guitarist. I've also added in all the previous songs and every single new songs being sang in the church. After 3-4 years of doing this, I've edited and make all the songs lyrics and chords into sort of a book. I tried to make it as thin as possible as I realize that there are like around 300 songs I've type, don't wanna make it a 150 page. After the book was done, I send for binding and produce 3 copy, one for myself, and give two other for friends in the church which I feel will need it and will also appreciate it.

Before long, the songbook was being photocopied by many others in the church. Later I added in more songs and make a 2nd edition. I realize that many brother and sister in the church who I don't even know are using the songbook in their personal quiet time and also for cell group meeting praise and worship session. Indeed I was very happy that so many can be blessed.

So I've got an idea. In this modern age, in order for more to be blessed, why don't set up a website to place the song in? So every time there is a new song, we can just upload it online, so I want a song database. Another thing with a website is that, in case of any technical or music knowledge that anyone that wants to know, he can ask it online. So I want to have a forum too. Of course some articles on music, guitar and worship will be nice too.

I seek out a few friends to help me and shared with them this vision as I know I cannot do this alone. Beside this, we've got plenty of help from everyone. Including our designer, moderators, articles contributor etc...

We actually started out using ecircle.com that provide us basically whatever we needed. A place for file sharing, so we upload the songbook and everyone download, a forum and some others things. But didn't have a place to actually have a database for the songs. So when ecircle.com decide to charge, we move to communityzero.com. It have everything ecircle.com have and more. But soon it wanted to charge also. We figure out that we will most properly spend around the same if we hold our website, so might as well just do it. I came out with the money for first one year of subscription and James did the web programming and some simple graphic. I asked Yenhao to place his database of songs here and join us, which he actually took from me ;) It took us sometime to decide on the name guitar4christ and also to decide if we wanna get a .net, .org or .com.

Finally, we have started. Only with a file sharing section, a song section(not a proper database), a forum. Around a year later, we decide to upgrade to a better web host and have a proper SQL database, membership, forum, using phpnuke. Praise God that we even have the web host that decide to sponsor us and refund the money we paid.

Guitar4christ.com is going from strength to strength now, average we've got 14-18 people signing up as a member everyday. From the time I wrote this, we have a membership of more than 3300.

(Seem like many is still using the songbook which was not updated for around 3 years, last year I've changed it to a nicer cover with G4C rather than the whole page of "praise . worship" wording.... and also convert it to PDF format. If you wanna download it, just click here.)
